Middle and Near East Plastic Machinery Market
Jordan and its surrounding areas experienced an explosive growth in plastic processing machinery in 2007, and then entered the industry winter caused by the economic crisis. Imports shrank by 73.4%, almost back to 2005 levels. After only one year, the import volume of plastic machines in the region increased by 20% year on year in 2009, and has maintained a steady growth trend since then. In 2013, Jordan and its surrounding areas imported 278 million US dollars in plastic processing machinery, an increase of 11.6% over the same period last year, an increase of 202% over 2009.
In terms of import source countries, Germany is the largest import source country of plastic processing machinery in the Near East, accounting for 31% of the import market share. China ranks second, accounting for 12%.
In the field of pelletizing/extruder, from $12 million during the 2008 crisis to $65 million in 2013, it has grown steadily for five consecutive years, with an average annual growth rate of 40%. China is the third largest importer of injection moulding machine products in the region, with a 5% share of the import market in 2013, second only to Germany and Austria. In 2013, the region imported 3.42 million US dollars of Chinese-made granulator/extruder.
